On the occasion of World Diabetes Day, the Rotaract Club of Government Dental College & Hospital, Mumbai, jointly with the Department of Periodontology curated a patient education program. The event was carried out under the guidance of Dean Dr. Wasundhara Bhad, supported by Dr. Dimple Padawe (Incharge of Rotaract Club) and Dr. C.D. Dhalkari Professor and Head Department of Periodontology.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Rajesh Gaikwad faculty Dept of Periodontology who also talked to the patients and conducted a free sugar checkup for the patients. From the OPD of the Department of Periodontology, 112 patients were screened and the random blood sugar levels of 67 patients were checked. Amongst these, 8 patients were found to have high blood sugar levels.
A 20 minute seminar was also conducted by Shruti Sawant & Aditi Kadam, interns at the college. Overall, the event was a big success in bringing awareness amongst the general public about diabetes.
