Yoga and Wellness

A few minutes of Pranayam during the day can be a great way to get rid of stress that accumulates daily, in both, body and the mind. Mindful breathing helps in relaxation and rejuvenates the body and mind.” With this aim in mind, a special session was organized by the Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Government Dental College and Hospital, Mumbai on 3’rd February 2024. The students, teaching and non-teaching staff participated (64 Nos.) with full interest, enthusiasm and eagerness.

The session started at 7:30 am in the Lecture Hall 1 of the college. Dr. Bhavitha Arackal welcomed the participants to the session and introduced to them Mr Gaurish Sadadekar, the Yoga & Meditation instructor. Mr Gaurish, a Professional Yoga trainer and Yoga therapist led the workshop by explaining the importance of meditation and its several applications in personal and work life settings. Mr Gaurish introduced the various breathing techniques to tackle various emotions in day to day life and briefly described its significance. The session lasted for 45 mins and was followed by a question-and-answer interaction.

Mr. Gaurish motivated the participants and conveyed the importance of these techniques as an integral part of our daily life. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the instructor and participants by Dr. Bhavitha Arackal. Dr. Suryakant Powar, Head of Department also joined to applaud and thank Mr Gaurish for conducting the workshop and to the students and staff for their active participation. The instructor was further awarded a certificate of appreciation by Dr Suryakant Powar for his cooperation and efforts in actively leading the workshop. The program ended at 8:45am and the staff resumed their work in their respective departments.
